I am likely a match if you are looking for treatment that focuses on:

Sleep Difficulties (including Insomnia)

Managing Chronic pain

Coping with Medical Illness

Depression

Anxiety

 

I am not a match if you are looking for treatment that focuses on:

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

Mania

Substance Use

Alcohol Use

Self-Injury

Active suicidal thoughts, intent for suicide

 

My treatment is based on weekly or biweekly sessions, based on the patient's and my availability and what is most appropriate for the patient's treatment goals. I find that treatment is most effective when we start with regular sessions because it allows us to build on our work consistently and provides patients opportunity to actively practice strategies and skills between sessions. Once we have achieved the patient's goal(s) we may discuss completing treatment or tapering down session frequency. For instance, some patients shift to meeting with me monthly or between longer intervals to practice independence in maintaining their gains.

 

I am not a match for patients who are looking for more frequent sessions or frequent contact outside of sessions. I understand that life changes and at times a patient may shift to want more support in the form of more frequent therapy sessions. In such cases I will make an effort to provide the best treatment support I can offer, but may discuss a transfer/referral to other resources if I and my treatment framework are not appropriate fits.

 

Steps for Treatment:

  1. Contact me to schedule a complimentary 15 minute consultation. We will discuss whether we are a match based on what you are looking for and what treatment I offer.

  2. Schedule an intake evaluation. The intake is not an agreement to provide treatment. The purpose of the intake is to more thoroughly assess whether we are a match. I will assess your concerns and presenting problems, provide you feedback about my impressions of your experience or diagnoses where relevant, and provide you an overview of what treatment with me would involve. This is an important opportunity for you to assess whether you feel we are a match as well.

  3. If we are a match based on the intake, the next step is to schedule our follow-up session.

  4. If I or you feel we are not a match, I will make my best effort to provide you feedback along with referrals/resources.

 

GROUP THERAPY

I offer group therapy for chronic pain management. My next group therapy series is projected to start in Fall 2024. Check back for more details or contact me if you are interested in learning more.
